Deepawali, once again, Awww..., Come celebrate Hindus and all!

A very happy and prosperous Diwali to all of you. Call it Deepawali, the festival of lights/lamps or an occasion to celebrate the return of Ram to his home or kingdom. But, more than anything else, it will remain, atleast for me, an obvious example of how Hindus (this term may sound offensive as after so many centuries it has failed to acquire a definite meaning) have weathered their faith in light of horrendous oppositions from every quarter of society in all times. It is another thing to say or observe that most of ‘Hindu’ families have ‘MODIFIED’ the rituals by and large. So what, that many children (youth) in SUCH families are not familiar with their SACRED texts that are ‘required’ to be recited on such festivities. So what, not many have even read that oldest EPIC from which this festival of lights first came to the fore. We, the Hindus, have successfully managed to remember HOW TO CELEBRATE Diwali or any such festival, for that matter. We have fixed this point in time of year to clean the houses (not homes or themselves), discard the old and BUY new and more advanced. We celebrate cheerfully and give the market a cheerful period by spending exorbitantly. After all, we need to celebrate the return of a ‘prince’ home for his coronation after successful adventure in far SOUTH. Every family will be left unawares if the right time to conduct ‘Pooja’ is not published in local newspaper or if the local Pundit is not called for the same. We forgot to use Hindu calendar and given way for Gregorian instead. Yes, the most important among all superficialities, the burning of crackers and compete the supersonics in creating unbearable noises. Don’t forget for a moment that the Hindus have developed a lot in last 5000 odd years since Ram has returned. I seriously think that the the companies should bring into the market a special memory card for Hindu festivals else the phone memory will be flooded like Tsunamis with greeting messages. After all, we do want to wish our near and dear ones atleast once in a year. This is such an important period of year that no news channel or media house will telecast any sting against any politician because no one cares NOW. We forget all the daily rigours or hiccups created by OUR GOVERNMENTS from last 60+ years. Even I am celebrating this festival in my own way knowing fully well that I am hurting the sentiments of many. Singularly, we and our successive governments have tied themselves to Ram for their Moksha.
