We all know Scrum is a popular Agile framework.
According to the Scrum guide, 3 factors are essential to understand the Scrum. The definition goes like this… it is a lightweight, simple to understand, and difficult to master framework!
The Scrum guide has not elaborated on this too much, but it has given some sensible outline. Here is how we can understand them.
Lightweight – It gives a process framework than imposing strict rules. Scum suggests what to do but doesn’t instruct how to do it.
Simple to understand – the latest scrum guide 2017 document is of 19 pages. The Scrum Guide doesn’t complicate things. Rather lets you and the teams to explore and mature. So, there is no complexity and the explanations are straightforward.
Difficult to master – While it is simple, it is also difficult because the transitioning requires a mindset shift. Only when you practice you understand it better and mature. There are no strict rules to follow this. You learn by making mistakes. In fact, it allows you to make mistakes, to understand it better, and master your skills.
All right… Have you ever thought about why Scrum doesn’t set the rules for this game but only gives you guidelines?!
When you see what lays the foundation of Scrum, it makes it clear. Yes, Scrum is based on the empirical process control theory, also called empiricism. By definition, empiricism is a theory that all the knowledge is based on experience derived from the senses or experience. Your knowledge is based on experience and it has to be observed and tested to be considered accurate. And the obvious reason – rules cannot be applied for something that needs experiential learning and improving.

I’m curious to know your thoughts.
