Maintaining a balance between high performance and empathy is one of the most important function of HR. While bridging the gap between management and employees, HR needs to align aspirations of employees to the organization's vision and goals. fostering a productive and harmonious workplace environment. HR plays a critical role in modeling behaviors and processes that promote compassion in the workplace, such as actively responding to employees' emotions with empathy and compassion while setting appropriate boundaries.
To achieve this balance, HR professionals should focus on soft skills training for the leaders, such as communication, empathy, and self-awareness, as these skills pave the way for integrating compassion in the workplace . Moreover, reassessing policies and processes to ensure they are compassionate and advocate for the workforce is vital in achieving this balance . Lastly, HR should lead by example and model behaviors and processes that foster compassion, while promoting a balanced relationship between workforce well-being and operational excellence.
As they say it always flows from the top, compassion needs to be a part of organization from the top most level so that it flows to the bottom.
