Deep fry marketing: Obvious marketing 'secrets'?

Deep fry marketing: Obvious marketing 'secrets'

The concept of marketing has been quite delt with by many experts, however there seems to me, one that stands out (I'll mention the name at the end of this article)

His work provided for me a working strategy and framework that has proven to be effective, everytime!

What about marketing

Prior to this time we have categorized marketing to be in two parts:

  • Traditional marketing: This would include handbills, posters, billboards, newspapers and even television
  • Modern marketing: This would include the new media (The internet) and all that pertains to it; like emails, social media, websites and lots more.

But knowing what marketing really is, the end to it is basically what you're passing across (the message) and to whom you're saying it to (your target audience) How is your strategy and where is the medium.

Going by this very simple definition of marketing, we would see Marketing didn't really change! Some parts of it did, but the core remains the same. What we experienced was a mere transition of the HOW and WHERE.

From the old to the new media, but every other thing remains the same! That said, I noticed a lot of advertising agencies/people who see only a measure of result with their campaigns and all, are all making one very simple, yet so common a mistake…. surface level marketing (As stated by the one who inspired this piece)

Marketing 'secrets': Out in the open

Surface level marketing is what it is, marketing done on the surface. It is running ads, competing for audience/consumer attention on social media, email, Search Engine, Apps etc. And trust me, it has surface level results!

If you want to strike it gold, you need to mine deep into your audience, this is more reason why #copywriting & #contentwriting services are needed in marketing now more than ever.

Imagine two stacks of perfectly sliced potatoes, you want them fried. You have a pot with barely enough oil and another pan with so much oil the potatoe slices will have a swim! What happens with the two stacks? Well I'll tell you!

Barely enough oil stack gets into the pan, seconds later gives a look that screams "I'm ready!" (Results). You take it outta the pan, happy with your work (surface level marketing strategy) Look at it then finally have a bite! Squish squish squish

What happened? Half cooked! The results outside weren't actually results! Quick and easy is never the way!

Don't hire lazy content marketers or copywriters, if you do your job well you'll get a good result (not a squishy result)

Then you have Deep fry potatoes, we all know how this story ends; chips are best fried deep. It doesn't give you the quick result look, but you see it and know it's working, it'll pay greatly when it's time... hence the term I came up with 'Deep fry Marketing'

Deep fry marketing

Deep fry Marketing is everything content marketing; give value, build a relationship with your customers/audience. Don't keep shoving ads down their throats and visual space! It almost never works.

Let your potatoes take the deep plunge, give it time, take out time to work out your strategy, choose the long haul - it's always worth it, trust me.

I hope this helped you! :)

I named/personalized this marketing strategy based on the illustration I gave above and have thus adopted the term 'Deep fry Marketing'
