A Deep Dive on NSF Certified Fixtures.
Read along to learn more about NSF 2 Food Splash Zone Certified luminaires and the value they can bring to your organization.
What does being "NSF Certified" mean?
NSF Certifications are given to products by the National Sanitation Foundation that meet their criteria for products safe to use in environments where food, water, or consumer products are being made.
These certifications are important because they allow people to make consumable products in environments that are guaranteed to be safe, which helps us avoid hurting our community and causing huge recalls of products.
NSF Certifications vary, as there are different certifications for different product types. For example, our light fixtures are classified as NSF 2 Food Splash Zone Certified. This means these products are safe for food handling purposes and can be easily pressure washed and maintained without causing harm to the environment they're installed in.
The Aurora-GenPak Case Study.
As a manufacturer of these kinds of fixtures, we were interested in seeing how far we could push the boundaries. We wanted to manufacture NSF 2 Certified luminaires that not only protected their environment, but saved organizations on both energy and maintenance costs.

We were able to achieve this goal through our GenPak Case Study. In this study, we established that our Aurora NSF 2 Certified luminaire reduced energy usage by 41%; saved over $6,000 in energy costs in just one year; and saved over $5,400 in maintenance costs annually when compared to the competing light fixture originally installed at GenPak Food Packaging.
As we found such success with the Aurora luminaire, we then developed and released the Blade Linear High Bay featured above as well as the OptiMAX High Bay luminaire, both of which are NSF 2 Certified and BAA (Buy American Act) Compliant.
Having NSF 2 Certified products helps out everyone. By keeping options available for food processing locations, we can ensure high quality products are being used in the same environments that are making the food we eat every day.
