A deep dive with Davis

Recruiting Digital, Data and Technology professionals to join ONS, the leading provider of statistics in the UK. Qualified Counsellor & Well-being advocate. Message me for all things wellbeing, mental health and Disney!
Meet Anita. Self confessed running fan, Food aficionado (so I learnt today!), a live in the moment kind of lady (which annoys her son...read on to find out more about this!!) and all-round happy human. Anita recently joined the ONS as our Deputy Director (DD) of Strategic Resourcing and every time I have seen her, she is always smiling. Despite the fact she keeps her chocolate predominantly in the fridge I love the fact that she always has time for people, so I decided to take advantage of this fact and find out what really makes our newest DD tick.................
Me: What is your favourite colour?
Anita: Green. Well at the moment it is. My youngest son always asks me this question and I always change my mind which winds him up. I like to live in the moment sometimes and there is nothing wrong with changing your mind.
Me: Do you believe in aliens and why?
Anita: No because I haven't met one.
Me: If you were a biscuit what would you be and why?
Anita: A custard cream. It's got different layers and they come together to form a whole like a team analogy.
Narrator (me!): Reader, the answer was very philosophical but also very cheesy! The good news is Anita is a team player, so I can forgive the cheese.
Me: What is your best quality?
Anita: I'm good at listening. I love conversations and coaching situations.
Narrator (still me!): Reader, I tried to claim this was 2 different things, but she sold me on it being all part of the same thing, so I'll allow this answer.
Me: If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
Anita: I love cheese. I couldn't eat it by itself though, so I'd have it with pasta.
Narrator (yes still me!): Reader, Anita then created a monologue then about other foods that could be on the list such as crisps and chocolate and all things sugar. Long story short the original answer remained.
Me: If you were a potato how would you like to be cooked?
Anita: I just love buttery mashed potato. I could've said mashed potato for the last question, but you can't just eat that by itself. It is good though.

Me: If you could be in the Guinness book of world records, what record-breaking feat would you attempt?
Anita: It would have to be running related. I'd love to break all brilliant running records. Unlikely but I'd love that.
Me: It's your record so you can have it!
Me: Tea or coffee?
Anita: Coffee
Me: If your home was packed full of golf balls, how would you remove them?
Anita: I'd just throw them out one by one. I think it would be quite therapeutic.
Narrator (me again!): Reader, I'm not sure Anita had considered how long this would take because in my mind that's a hell of a lot of golf balls, but she seemed content with this approach so on we go to the next question.
Me: Name one pet peeve?
Anita: Mess. Or as my husband says mess I can see.
Narrator (Pretty sure it's me!): Reader, it was at this moment that I turned my camera to show Anita the current state of my office room where the floor is covered in piles of presents to be wrapped, discarded clothes and boxes everywhere (yes, I'm super messy!). Reader, it was so triggering for Anita that her internet crashed, and she left the call. Brutal I know. Thankfully though Reader she did come back and advised me to log off and clean up. I did not take this advice. That can be tomorrow Jemma's problem.
Me: What would you do if you came home to find a penguin in your freezer?
Anita: Scream. How did it get there? Is it ok? Oh my god!
Narrator (Messy me!): Reader I also managed to find out some bonus questions for those nosy parkers like me Anita has worked at the Civil Service for over 20 years, she lives in Luton with her husband and 2 boys and sport is always on the TV at home.
So, to summarise Reader aside from the chocolate faux pas I can conclude Anita to be funny, she doesn't take herself too seriously, loves food which is a recruitment must have and is an all-round good egg to have on your side! (another food comment!)
Reader, I must dash I need to investigate how I get our recruitment processes to include the question about where people keep their chocolate so we can reduce this crazy fridge nonsense....................?????????

2 年Love reading your blogs Gem. Just for reference I keep all chocolate in the freezer, it takes longer to eat when you're on a diet. But seriously have you ever eaten a Cadburys Whisper from the freezer? Game changer!!! ??
