The deep connection happens through an important, magical word: “sharing.”

Understanding the communication dynamics is often confused or imposed on?“Language” & “Culture” And when it is it, the real confusion begins.

A Relevance Theory propounded by?Sperber and Wilson (1986/1995) argues that communication is achieved by changing the mutual cognitive environment, not by language but just by having a deeper sense of being. That’s something we all experience every day.

Certainly, there are many other mysterious elements sewn into it.

Communication in simple terms is defined as the “imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium.”

It has underlying dynamics, Cultural differences do play a role in pitch, tone, selection of words etc. However, it boils down to the situation of how likely a person put the effort to be in others' shoes which entails us to the bigger concept of communication that is CONNECTEDNESS.

Research into connectedness suggests that there are several different types of connectedness that are gleaned from the place from which the connection comes.

Connectedness speaks of those things that bind people together, whether at a moment in time or a specific place, or more deeply in a way that is not dependent on external variables. There are instances when we talk to people and in one conversation exchange, our Brain “Lights Up” and on the other hand even after having a conversation over years won't make us feel connected.

Why does it happen?

Because the former shares common values? Or they belong to the same religion or country

Most probably Answer is “no”.

As per experts, The concept of connectedness is applied in psychology as a sensation or perception where a person does not operate as a single entity. Yet, they are formed together to make another, individual unit. The deep connection goes beyond simple “looks” because it originates out of interaction and behaviour. But it especially happens through an important, magical word: “sharing.”

In our daily environments, which could be our jobs, schools, neighbourhoods, or recreational spaces, we certainly meet a lot of people. We coexist with all of them. But, throughout our lives, we only manage to “connect” deeply with a few.

Our brain is an entity ruled by a series of very basic needs. Sociability is one of them. So, when in our daily lives we meet people our brain, to say it one way, “lights up.” One of the first areas to react is the medial prefrontal cortex. But there’s another much deeper, more mysterious, and fascinating part that lights up like a Christmas tree. This is when we meet someone we connect more intensely with. This area can be found right where the temporal lobe and the parietal lobe come together. Neuroscientists tell us this is where our judgments unfold. It’s where our most abstract, most complex, and sometimes most inexplicable cognitive processes occur. True experts in the field indicate that this intimate and revealing bond crosses many more borders.

By inviting these significant people to this very private, deep part of our brain, we feel safe, comfortable, and trusted… but above all, happy.

Shivani Singh, very well documented and the metaphor selected so meticulously. It speaks all. You have rightly said it starts with sharing and definitely communication is a two way process depending on lots of things which must be discounted for measuring the effect. In our lifetime we speak to millions but perhaps communicate only with hundreds.
