Dee Padfield - Supporting a neurodiverse son
I'm sure all parents will agree with me, it's rewarding, but it's not easy.
As parents our problems often get brushed aside and we sacrifice our wellbeing for our children. Our parents did it for us and our children will do it for our grandchildren.
Some have it harder than others and Dee Padfield is one who has it harder than me.
Once again this isn't a pity story, whilst Dee has tough, tough times. She also has amazing highs with her son. The real tough times are getting less as her son is learning to manage himself and Dee is helping him but putting controls in place.
Dee will tell you about some of the strategies that she has put in place, explains what scrambled egg means in her house and how Ethan feels at his lowest points.

Dee works full time for Connect Assist as their Head of Sales. Working for them is more than a job for her, she deeply resonates with the business and how they support people with their mental health.
Her Mum is Ethan's primary carer, responsible for picking him up from school etc.... In itself, this can be a challenge too.
How did I feel talking to Dee? I think Dee can be described under the 'what you see is what you get' umbrella, but don't let that fool you. She has many layers, like an onion.
You heard it hear first, Dee Padfield is an onion. This is quite ironic as it felt like cutting an onion at times as Dee was emotional talking, however I don't think you will be able to tell from listening to the podcast. What you may notice is that I strung out some questions and sentences to support her, but by the end of recording the podcast I had tears in my eyes too.
Dee does an amazing job with Ethan, she should be very proud of her own achievements as well as his.
