Dee Dee’s Bridge The Beginning 

Whenever I’m riding on the back of that huge evil and brim stoned breathed dragon called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it reals its ugly head and believe me it does and it will because there is no cure; no amount of therapy intensive or not; no amount of prozac, zoloft or prescription pain killer can slay it. I close my eyes and imagine a place somewhere in the old deep south, there’s a quiet and placid lake where the water sparkles and shines like blue emeralds and there are miles and miles of tall sweet smelling Daffodils, pretty blue Woodland Phlox and delicate Rain Lilies surrounding both sides gently blowing in the wind and ohhh how intoxicating is the scent. There’s a bridge there an old but sturdy wood planked bridge with good and solid chain linked handrails on both sides to hold on too. At the end of that bridge I can see a little girl, she’s smiling and beckoning to me. She looks to be about eight years old and there’s something very familiar about her. I’m drawn to her and I move closer, she’s there on the other side, I can see her eyes, they shine and sparkle her smile so big she’s holding out her hands to me and I start to feel happy and can not resist the overwhelming urge to cross over to her, I place one foot on the bridge, it’s safe, it’s solid I look intently at her. I’m elated with child like joy as I start to cross, I’m not sure if I’ll ever reach her to hold her hand but I will most certainly keep trying because I also imagine the day when I finally do, I finally get across and I reach the smiling little girl with bright and happy eyes and find that I have missed her for years and I wonder where she’s been. She reaches for my hand and I hold on to her as we turn to walk together in the tall sweet smelling Daffodils and blue Woodland Phox. I am finally and happily free.
