Dedication and Form

It was 5am the other day, and I was in the gym, warming up with a few sets of bench press. It struck me how consistent I’ve been with working out, over the past 15 years, and how much my form has changed (for the better). As I tuned into each rep, focusing on the lift and not losing control when I lowered the barbell, I could feel the improvement in my form.
It must’ve happened a month or two ago, since I’ve been concentrating more on my form. It could be because I’m getting older and paying more attention to my form to prevent injury, but I’ve noticed, with more focus and effort, I’m getting way more out of my workouts, not just my bench press but everything.
Thinking more about this, I started to see similarities between bench pressing and brand building. First off, there’s the dedication and the effort it takes just to get to the gym early every morning. That has to happen before the hard work begins.
Then there’s form, consistency and concentration. When you’re on the bench, focusing on your form, and asking yourself – am I lifting properly? Am I getting the best results from each rep? Am I working hard enough? It’s the same as showing up to work consistently, day after day, and building your brand.
When you start to really look at the similarities between building muscle and building a brand, you begin to see how much alike they are. Building a brand takes dedication, consistency, and the proper form or right way of doing things.
When you’re going in every day and consistently marketing and growing your brand, and sticking to your business plan and goals, you’ll be successful at building your brand. The same way your bench press will improve with dedication, consistency and proper form, so too will your brand grow into something great and give you the kind of results you’re looking for.
Isn’t that what it’s all about?
