Decompressing at Work

Decompressing at Work

Are you feeling the year-end tension rising?

You probably have budget meetings, fourth quarter deadlines, revenue expectations, and not to mention your holiday plans, all adding to the melting pot of stress. Here are a few ways you can decompress at work any time of the year:

1. Try Writing

There is nothing better for you or for your company than expressing yourself in a productive way. Whether you're creating content for your business, blogging about something you're passionate about, or simply just jotting down ideas, writing enables you to refocus, and exert your energy on something positive.

Take a stab at it now if you are in the limbo of waiting and stressing.

2. Start Dreaming

Get out of the present & into the future. Just block out time in your calendar, escape to somewhere quiet, and focus your energy on a passion or an idea. What you do is up to you, but for me, I love to write down business ideas. You might also try using a whiteboard to plan for something you want to accomplish over the next 6-12 months.

No matter what you do, step away from your desk, and refocus your mind.

3. Go For a Walk

How many times have you left your desk only to find that the important thing you needed was there when you got back? That email you were waiting for, the agreement signed, a budgeting decision...

You know what they say, "a watched pot never boils."

When you return to work after writing, dreaming, or just clearing your head, you'll hopefully find a different perspective, a calmer sense of self, and a new energy to take on the anxiety you have ahead.

Good luck with your year-end and Happy Holidays!
