Decoding Tomorrow: Why We Need to Become Digital Centaur/ides

How much of your workday do you spend on the menial and the mundane? If you were to draw a pie chart of your productivity, what would it look like? Are you spending time in your true genius and tapping your creative intelligence (CQ)? Would you like to engage your heart and mind in more of the meaningful and the humane? We humans no longer have a monopoly on intelligence. And that is potentially good news as artificial intelligence can turn us into Digital Centaurs/Centaurides. In Greek mythology, a centaur/ide was a creature with the head, arms, and torso of a wo/man and the body and legs of a horse. This is the way I think of artificial intelligence. It has the ability to boost our mindpower, while also giving us some more horsepower. We need to take the robot out of the human so we can do more humanistic work...

The good news is that the two intelligences are not mutually exclusive, but can instead be mutually re-enforceable. Have a think about how you'd like to re-design your typical workday away from the menial and the mundane and toward the meaningful and the humane. Why? Because if want to solve grand global challenges like climate change and social injustice, intelligent people should not be spending their time doing data entry. Studies show that when we combine the intuition, creativity and compassion of a human with the horsepower of artificial intelligence, that combination of AI and HI will (still) trump any supercomputer in the world.
