What if you could stop your grandmother from suffering a fall—before it even happens?
For centuries, we’ve cared for our elders reactively—rushing to help after an incident, after the pain, after the damage has been done.
But what if we could shift from reactive care to proactive, even predictive care?
I often think about my late grandmother Ingrid in Sweden, who started having falls in the early 2000s. Each time, it was a heartbreaking cycle—an accident, a hospital or doctor's visit, a slow recovery, and the creeping fear that another fall was just around the corner. The best the doctors could do for homecare was to give her a big necklace with an emergency button on it - again a reactive option.
Did you know that a simple fall leading to a hip fracture carries a 21% mortality rate even with surgery. Without it, the number skyrockets to 70%...
If only we had been able to anticipate these moments before they happened, to intervene before she hit the ground...?
Medical prevention is better than cure. Today, that’s no longer science fiction. We are literally wearing our hearts—and our health—on our sleeves.
Wearable technology is transforming the way we monitor well-being.
Smart devices can now analyze gait patterns, detect irregularities, and predict potential falls before they occur. These insights allow family members and caregivers to take preventive action—whether that’s adjusting the home environment, providing mobility aids, or even engaging in early intervention therapy.
This isn’t just about fall prevention. From smartwatches that detect arrhythmias to AI-driven glucose monitors, wearables are expanding our ability to care—not just for our loved ones, but for ourselves.

The question is:
How are you adopting technology to better care for your clients, your patients, and your loved ones—before they even know they need it?
