But the influence of the Messi phenomenon extends beyond gate receipts; it's a merchandising bonanza. Fans are gobbling up Messi jerseys like hotcakes. In July, Inter Miami and Adidas announced that orders for the iconic number 10 Messi jerseys were backlogged through October.
What's more, a Messi Inter Miami jersey is now the priciest item on Adidas' website, commanding a staggering $180, double the price of his Argentina jersey from the World Cup-winning campaign. Adidas has termed this demand "unprecedented." Fanatics , Major League Soccer's e-commerce partner, reported record-breaking merchandise sales when Messi's transfer to Inter Miami was announced. More team merchandise was sold in those crucial moments than in the entire preceding year of 2023 combined. During this time, Inter Miami leapfrogged to become Fanatics' top-selling MLS club, outstripping its closest competitor by a whopping 50%.

The Messi effect isn't confined to records of ticket sales or merchandise alone. When the news broke that Messi would be joining Inter Miami CF after almost four years of anticipation, the team's global popularity surged by over 1000% in interest. This interest shows no sign of waning, consistently holding above pre-announcement levels.

Fans are brimming with enthusiasm, ready to express their passion, and actively participate in discussions about the GOAT-level performances Messi is consistently delivering to the league. It's evident that Messi's transition to Inter Miami is far more than a mere transfer; it represents a seismic shift in the realm of soccer and beyond. As we eagerly look ahead, it's clear that this magical journey is just beginning, especially considering that the most engaged audience on social media is the youthful demographic, whose interests span far beyond the soccer pitch.
