Decoding L&D Strategy: Selecting the Ideal Pilot Case with 3 Fail-proof Factors

How do you select your Pilot Case to apply your L&D strategy?

Having to create an L&D strategy is a large project, and it can be overwhelming! Working in an agile way in such cases can be smart because it allows us running a pilot case first and then scaling it up to the whole organization.

I recently faced this challenge while consulting an organization. After conducting a deep analysis of gaps for training efficiency, I created a project proposal for training improvement. We needed to select a Pilot Case to be more concrete and gain buy-in from our stakeholders.

Selecting a Pilot Case wasn't easy, but we kept in mind 3 factors that play a big role in the decision-making process.

Here are the 3 factors that never fail to help you choose:

  • Look at the bottlenecks:?Identify the team/department/part of the business that needs it the most, where there is currently the biggest challenge and they require your support.
  • Look at the potential project team:?Find where you can get the biggest support and commitment. Since you will dedicate a lot of time and resources to it, it is crucial to work with people who are truly motivated.
  • Look at the timelines and availability:?Applying your strategy might require more time than what they currently have, so select the team/department that also has the time to go through the pilot, ensuring you don't end up with a half-baked approach!

Once you have chosen the ideal Pilot Case, the real magic begins. As you dive into the design phase, your core focus should lie in creating non-boring training solutions that captivate and inspire.?
