A lot of people use this term ‘Attitude’ when they talk about someone they don’t like or can’t get along with. Ex- He/ She has a lot of Attitude.
What does Attitude really mean?
Let’s take an example:
Suraj an employee in an IT firm was working on an assignment when his boss Shashi asked him to help his colleague Tanvi understand the work.
The moment Suraj heard this he thought to himself, this doubles up my work. First, I need to finish the project and then help this newbie understand it as well. This is so unfair. Why do I have to work so hard all the time.
Tanvi excitedly walked up to Suraj’s desk. Suraj felt frustrated and angry looking at her excitement. He gave Tanvi a disinterested look and in a curt tone he asked her to go back.
So, what is Attitude?
Attitude is a sum total of the way we THINK, which stimulates the way we FEEL, which reflects in the way we BEHAVE.
ATTITUDE = THINK + FEEL + BEHAVE
How we define Suraj’s Attitude here?
Suraj thought negative (burden) which made him feel negative (angry/ frustrated) and thus behaved in a negative manner (rude), displaying Negative Attitude.
Positive Attitude starts with positive thoughts, stimulates positive feeling reflecting in positive behavior.
The concept of positive and negative attitude applies to each task, person or relationship we handle throughout the day.
Start working consciously on the thought level, choose positive thoughts and soon you will start feeling and behaving positive and reflecting Positive Attitude.
