Declining credibility of marking in IBDP Korean A.
The result of the final exam came out in May 2023, and a student who expected 7 got 5. The student said sorry to me. She said that I taught him hard but she seemed to have made a mistake.
I received the student's answer sheet through DP coordinator and confirmed that Korean A examiner had deducted points in Paper 2 for violating IB's rules. The examiner deducted 5 points each from Criteria A and B just because the student used an interpretation different from the traditional interpretation. So I replied to the student.
"Make sure you apologize for your fault, but never apologize for something that is not your fault."
And I've been fighting IB for the past year to correct the student's grade. IB revised the student's grade to 6, but that's not the right grade either. From what I've checked so far, IB is also well aware of the confusion of marking in Korean A. They just ignoring it because Korean A is small.
And this confusion of marking will occur again in Korean A this year. If my students are unfairly evaluated, I think it is also my responsibility as a teacher to fight back. So I'm preparing for a fight again this year.
