The Decline of GoDaddy's Service: A Frustrating Experience with Name Server Failures
GoDaddy, once a reliable name in domain registration and web hosting, has seen a noticeable decline in its service quality. This deterioration became glaringly evident during my recent experience with a simple task: updating name servers. What should have been a routine operation turned into a frustrating ordeal that highlighted just how far GoDaddy's customer service has fallen.
I've been a loyal GoDaddy client for over 15 years, managing hundreds of domains through their platform, and I currently have around 90 domains with them. Over the years, I’ve come to expect reliable, efficient, and customer-focused service. Unfortunately, my latest experience was anything but that.
It began when I attempted to update the name servers for one of my domains. Typically, such changes propagate within a few hours—24 at most. But after a week of waiting and monitoring, I noticed that the name servers hadn’t updated. My website remained unreachable, and I was stuck in limbo.
When I contacted GoDaddy support, I expected a quick fix. Instead, I was met with a series of excuses. Despite clear evidence that something was wrong, I was repeatedly told to wait another 48 hours for the name servers to propagate.
This advice was given despite the fact that the name servers were reverting back to GoDaddy’s default servers when I attempted to point them to a new hosting company.

The frustration didn’t end there. The support team completely ignored the fact that I had initially changed the name servers over a week ago and that they never actually took effect. Instead of acknowledging this obvious failure, GoDaddy kept pushing me off, refusing to address the root of the problem.
They stated they were creating a support ticket for me but i never got a copy of it. This was wasting 35 hours of my time over the weekend past.
It was clear that the name servers were reverting to the old settings on their end, yet they dismissed my concerns and left me waiting unnecessarily.
As someone who has trusted GoDaddy with the management of so many domains, this experience was deeply disappointing. It’s disheartening to see a company I’ve relied on for years now failing to provide even the most basic support when issues arise.
Eventually, the name server issue was resolved—but only after days of unnecessary delays and stress. This experience serves as a stark reminder that GoDaddy is no longer the dependable service provider it once was. For those considering their options, it might be time to look elsewhere for a company that truly values its customers and provides the support they deserve.
The question I have is has anyone else experienced the same type of service degradation?
