THE DECISIONS WE MAKE
?
??????????? Looking back, I've made some lousy choices since I was a kid – smoking in sixth grade, expecting everyone to like me, and thinking I could always do whatever I wanted. But, let's face it, that's not how life really works. The truth is, that every word, deed, or thought has consequences felt by someone on the other side.
It's crazy to think that God saw something in me, turned my life around, and offered me eternal life just by accepting Jesus Christ as my savior.
I used to be careless, brushing off the struggles of the poor, homeless, or hungry. I convinced myself they could figure things out on their own or find some government program. Boy, was I wrong on every level? I've hurt a lot of people, forgotten about even more, and basically shot myself in the foot.
When you choose to ignore or lack empathy for someone, remember that what you do today sticks with you for life. We're here to grow as spiritual beings and learn from our Heavenly Father. So, this holiday season, let's reflect on what truly matters to the world and to us.
The phrase "goodwill to men" is part of a longer one, traditionally translated as "peace on earth, goodwill toward men." However, the original Latin version means "peace on earth to men of goodwill." It doesn't just imply divine favor; it also suggests being favorably disposed toward God. It's a declaration of peace and goodwill to all. Let's hold onto that and make it a reality in our lives.
