Decisions to Make Before Upgrading in Your General Practice

General practitioners have to be the “jack of all trades, master of none” when it comes to how they go about their business. This makes things like general practice radiography upgrades a tough thing to think about when it comes to budgeting. Is it going to improve your quality of service enough to invest in this new equipment, or does it make sense to refer your patients to a medical imaging center instead? Here are some of the important discussions you need to have before committing to any equipment upgrades.
As a start, without proper planning, your general practice radiography upgrades can cause an unintended domino effect. Maybe you start with one x-ray that you want to upgrade. It seems harmless enough, so you make a purchase. Only then, you find out that it’s incompatible with other legacy equipment or software you may have. Suddenly, you go from one thing you want to upgrade to several things, which can wreak havoc on a budget. This is why it’s important, before making any purchase, to painstakingly go over with your provider on what the new piece will be compatible with.
You also want to make sure that you have a maintenance plan in place when it comes to your new purchases. Does your provider offer remote support or a protection plan beyond the conventional year or two? The last thing you want to do is to have to revisit this discussion before you are ready.
The final decision that we need to talk about is the provider that you work with to actually upgrade your equipment. Remember, this isn’t just a one time purchase for your general practice radiography equipment, you’ll also want someone you can trust to provide support, troubleshooting, and perhaps revisit for software and accessories. At JPI Healthcare Solutions, we work hard to provide all of these features for a variety of medical settings.
