DECISIONS, DECISIONS! How many do I make?

3. What defines you? A voice note.

ONE: DECISIONS, DECISIONS! How many do I make?

As a founder and advisor, I’ve said it. I hear it all the time: 'I don’t have time.' 'I have to be involved in everything.' 'Nobody will ever do it like me.'

Does that mean I get involved in every single decision making for my company?

Hiring. Positioning. Marketing. Sales. Financial planning. Cash flow. Customer service. Ops. HR. Complaints. Resolutions. And then? The cycle repeats.

If so, where does that leave time for strategic thinking, planning and effective delegation?

What exactly is this “Decision Making”?

How do I make effective decisions?

More importantly, which decisions must I be involved in?

Some fuss over their underwear colour. Others obsess over font sizes and the perfect shade of grey on a logo.

If my brain is involved in all small decisions, fatigue will ensure there is very limited time to make those big decisions that only I have the vision to make. Risks to be taken. Chances to be gambled on.

At the Founder table, I’m almost alone. Even with a team, some decisions sit only with me. Which ones?

Say yes to one small decision, and soon every minor decision lands on your desk. That’s how it works. People want the authority—without the responsibility. It’s the cover-my-ass model ingrained in us. And, of course, deference to authority.

This the sort of company I want to be a part of!

  • Decision frameworks in place.
  • Who makes what call is clear.
  • No-decision and upward delegation? That’s a red flag.
  • But no penalty for making a call and failing.
  • And strictly saying NO.

I pay you to make decisions. That’s your job. Finding the right you and empowering you is mine!

What’s the psychology behind decision making?

How can founders make more outlier decisions - fast?

What decisions stall you, stalk you and make you think?

Welcome to THE DECISION DIARY: FOUNDER TO FOUNDER

A new series.

You make the call—or miss it and wonder why.

We Founders operate in a minimal data space.

No perfect answers, just gut-checks, bias traps, and real-time decisions that can make or break everything.

Founder to Founder, let’s talk about the regrets, the near-misses, the unexpected wins, and the brutal lessons that shape the businesses we build.

And along the way, I will share my experiences personally and from those with whom I work with.

Decide fast. Own it. Move forward.

What decision challenges are you grappling with today?
