Decision Making Process

Every morning from the moment we open our eyes, we are confronted with #choices, and we make hundreds of #decisions. Most of our decision-making ability has become automated or unconscious, and there are times we spent our days in a haze and wondered how we made through.
Do you have a process or system that allows making the best choice at the time? How do you know? What criteria do you use?
I feel lucky as my father implanted in me a basic and straightforward system to make a personal decision and to choose wisely as possible. When faced with the task of making choices, he taught me to ask two simple questions about the path that I was about to take.
- If I do this, what is the worst thing that can happen?
- Can I live with the consequences?
Every choice we make has a built-in reward and a price to pay, knowing the worst thing that can happen or the highest cost to me allows me to choose with personal integrity. I can decide if I am willing to pay the price. Same philosophy as the saying “if you can’t do the time; don’t commit the crime.” By considering the consequences to me, others, and the environment that we are in, we ensure that our actions and choices will be in the highest interest of all those affected.
