Decision Intelligence - the other half of the moon

Recently, the artificial intelligence "AI" became the trend in the market and people start thinking about how they can inject the AI everywhere , starting from using AI to write their emails and ending with using the AI to develop applications and even more than that.

All of that is perfect and no one can ignore the crucial role of using the AI in our life, but did you ever think about how we can take that power of AI to the next level ??

When we are talking about the AI , then we are just looking at the half of the moon which we can see , but also we have to think about the far side of the moon , which is the decision intelligence "DI".

What is the decision intelligence "DI" ?

Based on Gartner , DI is a "Practical discipline that advances decision making by explicitly understanding and engineering how decisions are made and how outcomes are evaluated, managed and improved via feedback." , accordingly we can defined the DI as a technology that can take decisions by itself "if needed" based on several input sources such as the AI ,machine learning technologies, and data fusion.

Why is decision intelligence is important?

Decision intelligence plays a pivotal role in today’s business landscape, so before you know why decision intelligence is important, you have to know that the successful decisions rely on understanding actions vs. outcomes and that decision intelligence utilizes a combination of methods and technologies such as:

  • Machine learning
  • Decision mapping
  • Automation
  • Decision theoriesto enhance and support any business decisions and to reduce the risk of taking the wrong decisions.According to that, there are several benefits behind using Decision Intelligence (DI) in business like :A) Data-Driven Decisions: DI enables organizations to make decisions based on data rather than intuition alone.B) Objective Decision-Making: Unlike human decision-makers who may be influenced by emotions or biases, AI-driven decision intelligence remains objective.C) Continuous Improvement: Decision intelligence models continuously learn and adapt, leading to better decisions over time, where organizations can refine their strategies and plans based on real-time insights.

Totally agree, would like to know how does machine learning contribute to decision intelligence processes?would you explain the role of data in AI-driven decision making compared to human-based decision making?
