The Decision Dilemma: You're RIGHT!

The Decision Dilemma: You're RIGHT!

Ah, decision-making—the ultimate mental tug-of-war. Whether you're deciding to launch a new business, join a gym (again), or finally get that skydiving certification, the process is the same. It boils down to two perspectives: the reasons TO DO something and the reasons NOT TO DO something. Spoiler alert: whichever you choose to focus on will likely steer your ultimate decision.

Let’s break it down.

First, grab a pen and paper—or, if you’re feeling fancy, open a spreadsheet. Make two columns. On one side, list all the glowing, positive reasons to proceed. On the other, let your inner skeptic run wild and jot down the negatives. This exercise may feel a bit like a courtroom drama where you’re both the star attorney and the judge, but it works.

Here’s the secret sauce: Whatever you're looking for, you'll find it. If you spend all your energy hunting for reasons not to move forward, you’ll build a rock-solid case to stop. But if you focus on the opportunities and reasons to go for it, you’ll stack the deck in favor of action.

Neither approach is “wrong.” In fact, both are right—because they’re YOUR decisions, based on YOUR perspective. If you decide against something, you’re "protecting" yourself from potential pitfalls. If you decide to go for it, you’re embracing opportunity with open arms. Either way, you’re in the driver’s seat.

So, the next time you’re faced with a big decision, remember this: your mindset is the ultimate compass. Make your list, weigh your options, and trust your instincts. And if you still can’t decide, just ask Brody, our Office Manager (and Pug extraordinaire). His advice usually boils down to: Whatever you decide, you are right!"
