Crack the Code to Keyword Research

Crack the Code to Keyword Research

There are many ramblings regarding how best to go about your SEO strategy in today's digital age. Regarding content, you want to be quite sure you're connecting with your audience peer-to-peer. This, of course, involves selecting choice keywords that reverberate with your audience. Certainly, choosing the right keywords from the start forms the basis of a much bigger picture, ensuring your digital marketing efforts in their totality are a hit. Here's why I like to approach keyword research from a bottom-up POV.

The very definition of

Keyword research involves figuring out the best and most effective keywords to drive traffic to your website. Where it gets complicated is landing (mind the pun) that keyword or keyword phrase on Google, when there are thousands, possibly millions, competing for the same position as you. If you’ve been grappling with what keyword research means for you, here are some tips on how to decipher (and implement) the right ones to help with your SEO strategy.

Starting blocks of keyword research

Because choosing the right keywords can be somewhat tricky, it’s best to establish a few ground rules before diving in.

  • First, decide on terms that are, or closely relate to, your product or service. Decide what your intent is. Then try to determine the search intent of your audience. And how these two might come together.
  • For example, you might be looking for better brand awareness. Your audience might be searching for results to satisfy an inquiry. Satisfy their inquiry with a search term that meets them where they’re at. And you’ve automatically enlightened them with, hopefully, your Unique Selling Point and Value Proposition – instant visibility!
  • Importantly, think of how these keywords fit into your content. Alternatively, think up content ideas that might be the perfect fit for your keyword topics. You might want to try amalgamating your objectives with select search terms as creatively as possible. So you have different variations and multiple combinations of single (short-tail) keywords and strung-together (long-tail) keywords to play around with at your disposal.
