Deciding if “it is worth it”

The question “is it worth it?” always deserves the explisit answer “it is” or “it is not”, and at the same time you should "do", or "do not", there is no try.

Today I am inspired by a dozen articles by different authors and a dozen wonderful people that I have met in the past week. All in all, it really was worth it.

Today I thought out loud that I am not sure if my proposal is worth the time and effort necessary, which brought me to one of my favourite philosophical topics of who gets to say, and who has the last word on a decision that is being made if “it is worth it” ?

Today we discussed on social media the impacts of Bonanza, western movies, and the careers and legacy of John Ford and John Wayne. A pinnacle piece The Searchers from the 50s still today really take us there, to the lives of lonesome cowboys. These movies really are worth it.

Today there is a christmas party in Antwerp. We are going to cook some traditional finnish stuff and sauna and drink a few beers. When driving there, I am wondering if I will be happy with the outcome.

Today in popular culture it is a big topic if the beauty in life is worth it, or do we need an equal amount of suffering and disappointment for anything to be worth a thought. In todays world you have a range of nuances and not just happy and sad, or yes and no.

We consider how things matter to ourselves, how they matter to us as a group and how life events and actions matter to our companies and society at large. We declutter our lives to avoid disappointments.

We choose to do it anyways (with an opportunity cost). We choose to do it for the shits and giggles (for personal entertainment). We have a mindset, and with our mindsets come different kinds of zones with purpose. With those mindsets come visions, missions and personal life strategies that in the best of circumstances benefit me, us, them and society.

I choose to take an opportunity cost, because it will make me a happier person. We choose to create fun moments and shared memories together.

The author wishes to help the development environment hold the weather and reduce the number of disappointments experienced by millions of people in everyday life.
