Deciding Where in the World You Want Your Business to Reach

As you are looking to expand your business into the global market, there are a few things that you need to note:

1.    How will your business translate into different countries/languages?

2.    Will you have to make specific changes to accommodate other countries/dialects?

3.    What are you going to do to educate your employees on the value of using different business languages?

4.    How will the local GDP affect your profits?

Assessing the final details of becoming a global business revolves around the way that you speak to others. Representatives of the Common Sense Advisory (CSA), Benjamin B. Sargent and Arle Lommel, are two professionals who have been able to compile great information from the research that they have conducted, respectively.

There are a few trends that affect language priorities; here is the equation for Global Language Shifts: (Internet Availability + Broadband Expansion + Population Growth + Expanding per Capita GDP = Global Language Shifts).

Internet Availability plays a huge role in understanding global languages because most businesses utilize the internet to some degree. Whether it has a general website that explains to the current/future consumer base what the company is or an avenue to sell products online, knowing this aspect is very important. Certain governments in certain countries have banned websites that they do not want their citizens to view. You want to make sure that whatever country you may be trying to reach that you comply with their requirements (which also includes Broadband Expansion).

The Population Growth and Expanding per Capita GDP roles in this equation mean being able to keep up in the global market appropriately. Many countries are becoming multilingual, which means that the more the population grows, the number of languages that are learned/utilized grows as well.
