Deciding When It's Time to Hire Someone

As a startup, the last thing you want to do is hire before you're ready. The number one reason startups fail is all the money's gone, and nobody wants that!?

It’s important to clearly evaluate your workload and workflow before making any rash decisions. If you need a second opinion on when it’s time to build or grow your team, or even if you don't, here’s mine.??

If your customers are saying you look like you need more help, it’s time to bring in someone new to help you pick up the slack. This could be a virtual assistant, an employee, or a strategic partner.?

If your team is overworked and overwhelmed with projects and operational tasks, you need to outsource something and keep them in their zone of genius.?

If you’re turning good business away because you don’t have the bandwidth, you needed to start growing your team yesterday. Startups don’t grow and thrive by not making money! It’s time to scale.?

If you’ve figured out another way to add revenue to your existing business model, but don’t have anyone free to run with it, it’s time to bring in a go-getter to get that division up and running.?

If you’ve been outsourcing some of your smaller or specialized tasks but you’ve outgrown the outsourcer, it’s time to bring that in-house! Hire for personality and potential, not just skill.?

If you or your top layer of leadership are doing the menial everyday tasks that are well below their paygrade, this is the busy work that draws your focus from the needle-moving projects, then congratulations! You need an administrative or executive assistant! And you’re going to love it!

Maybe all of these things are true and you’re not sure what to do first! Startups, this is a good place to be. Take one step at a time, starting with the needle-moving decisions.?

It can be scary to finally take that step, but it should be encouraging! You’re doing it! Your business is growing and you are leveling up.?

Coaches hire me to enroll more clients because they dislike exaggerated marketing claims and sleazy sales tactics. I show them how to generate warm leads and convert 50% of prospects into clients.
