Make a Decision
Andy Walter
The Thought Architect for Industry Leaders - Developing businesses by changing the way people think.
Why is it that so many small businesses stay small.
It’s not about hard work, every business owner is busy, it’s not because they lack commitment, they don’t, it’s not a lack of ambition a lot have that in spades. They are all good at what they do, and I have yet to meet a company that professed to give crap customer service.
It’s not their prices, most are charging way less than they could, it’s not a matter of luck.
It’s not determination.
Or Charisma
Risk taking then? Not particularly
Intelligence? There are lots of broke PHD’s
In my experience for the vast majority of those that outperform the market and achieve the big things and the high levels of growth follow a systematic methodology in every aspect of their business, they simply take action on the things that will make a difference and then focus on doing those things consistently.
If you want to achieve anything in your life no matter what that is you will need to take action you will have to actually do something, it’s no good moaning about your lot in life or wishing things were better, the only way you can change things is to change them and yes, I know that sounds pat but it’s true.

The first step in being able to decisively take action is the ability to be decisive in other words being able to make decisions quickly and with confidence, think about it for a moment if you can’t decide with any degree of conviction, you won’t take action and that’s just the road to failure.
A study of over 25,000 people who experienced failure showed that one of the major causes was a lack of decision-making ability, they just couldn’t or wouldn’t make decisions and that of course meant they failed to take the action they needed to take to succeed.
A similar study of those who had achieved their goals and accumulated considerable wealth showed that every single one of them had developed the ability to be able to make decisions quickly.
When making your plans and putting them into action you should only discuss this with those you trust completely to give you good advice. “Never ask a plumber for advice on hanging a door.” Close friends and family with the best of intentions will freely give you their opinions often trying to be funny and making a joke of your ideas, this will not help you make your decisions and will not help you achieve what you want, don’t let others distract or dissuade you from your goals.
Your ideas and goals are just that, yours, they come from your brain, and you should use it to make your decisions, if you lack information or knowledge on a subject you need to make a decision on then use the internet of ask for professional advice from the right sources without telling people why you need the information. Please don’t ask your bank manager for advice on running your business; they are good at managing a bank not building a business.
Remember to be very selective in those you seek advice from, there are many people out there that pretend to have way more knowledge than they actually do, you will find these people talk a lot more than they listen and what seems like good advice may in fact be your route to failure, I cannot stress enough the importance of getting good advice and from the people in a position to know what they are talking about, asking a lawyer about law is a great idea asking them about implementing a new software package may not be such a smart move.
So, take all the advice you can get weigh up the options but above all else make the decision and take the action.
