The Deception of Income

A few years back whilst I served in Kaduna, I observed the '9th' wonder of this world. It happened ever so frequently and consistently left me 'flabberwhelmed'
It was the 'Okada men in KD'. Back then, I'd stop a bike, describe where I was going, negotiate a fee and hop on it.
On our way, I'd notice the bike man turn in the wrong direction & because I'd been there a couple of times, I'd tap him to correct him.
This was the usual sequence - he'd say something in Hausa, I'd reply 'ba Hausa' (meaning - I don't understand Hausa). I'd ask 'you know where you dey go?' And he'd shake his head communicating 'he didn't'
The most baffling part was that this bike man agreed on a fee not knowing where he was going. He was content making money; not realising whether he was making a loss or profit. He was 'deceived' by the consistent influx of cash. True story
Whilst, this story may sound funny to you, I realised a number of enlightened employees live this way too; albeit in much fancier circumstances.
They get paid a certain amount (which they know to the decimal points). However, ask them how much it takes to run their lives & that of their dependents in a month & they start to stutter.
Then, they wonder how one of their peers have been able to build a house or start their own business!
Fam, what you do not measure, you cannot manage and what you cannot manage you cannot multiply *puts a pin on quote* Management is getting the MOST OUT of the LEAST.
Most people get the LEAST OUT of the MOST - They get paid so much yet somehow cannot explain where all the money went!
Fam, it is not about how much you have but how much you have left. Check your expenses, where are you leaking? Plug that hole. Be intentional!
In 2020, God wants to multiply your finances but he needs to see you faithful with little!

4 年Truer words.... There is a strong need for education on financial planning for individuals, more amazingly (at least in my opinion), mostly for employees in the financial sector.
