Decentralized decision-making

The hierarchical systems that currently exist are very inefficient and detrimental to the growth of a group.?In this article, I am going to demonstrate why this is, and show a solution to create growth and prosperity in any group by leaving these old systems behind and employing new ones that mimic the natural growth of any living thing.?First, I am going to look at a tree and compare it to an organized group.?Trees or plants represent simple examples of neural networks that grow naturally and respond to whatever environment they are in.?Organizational charts also naturally emulate neural networks because groups of cells of any organism tend to connect in the same pattern.?You could say that people become the cells and the organization becomes the living organism.

A tree is controlled by what it is connected to, the sun and soil.?If you get rid of either, then the tree dies.?This means that the control circuit in our tree moves from the outside to the inside towards the heart of the tree, or where the root ball and upper branches come together.?Every branching section is combining energy and information towards the center of the tree, while at the same time providing for the outer leaves and roots so they continue to flourish.?If the tree functions correctly, it becomes an efficient conductor of energy and information between the sun and the earth.?The heart of the tree (or CEO in a company) then becomes the central point where both sides come together and must maintain both directions to provide for the rest of the organism.?The sun, seasons, available water, soil conditions, and other exterior factors all control the plant, not the heart of the plant.?A corporate entity behaves in the same way.?If you get rid of product or consumer, that entity dies.?If leadership isn’t properly providing for the rest of the company, then toxicity develops and leads to any number of negative consequences.

The entirety of the plant makes decisions on how to distribute nutrients in the organism or parts of the plant die. ?This becomes our central theme of conversation here and why leadership has taken front and center stage in the recent saga of struggling corporate entities.?Without good communication, good decision-making is impossible.?Since corporations are working within a hierarchy, the goal is to install the best leaders who listen to the whole group to make decisions.?The problem lies with finding a whole string of people from the ground up that listen to each other and provide for the front line.?Good luck finding an ego-less management team.?It doesn’t matter how great of a leader you put at the forefront, none of us are perfect, and we each deal with personal and professional challenges in an infinite number of ways.?Hierarchical systems also breed competition for the top spots and create resentment for those that feel they will never achieve respect for their work.?Toxicity develops when the frontline’s needs aren’t being met and management sees the breakdown in work as complacency and low work ethic.?Both sides stop talking because neither side believes it is worth the time creating better communication.?Decisions from both sides become un-intelligent and fruitless.?This is the story that our current system has developed.

Decentralization has become front stage in the currency markets.?It allows access to money that cannot be controlled by special interests, or over-inflated by central governments that make it worthless.?Decentralizing decision-making will have the same results for an organized group of people.?If the whole group is allowed to be a part of the decision-making process, then it streamlines ideas for growth and prevents any one person or smaller group from taking control and “steering” the group in the direction they want.?It also gives everyone an interest in their own development within the group.?One of the main problems with the hierarchical model is the fact that most people don’t have a say in how decisions are made.?Survey systems give one person or small group limited feedback on an idea, and then they must make an educated guess as to which direction to go.?The ideas are still getting filtered through one entity, with the average person having no control over the outcome, even if it was their idea to begin with.?If there were another way, what would a system like that look like?

It would be absurd to say that I am not promoting the system I developed.?My intent is to raise awareness that the current way we do business is systematically flawed.?We have been operating under the hierarchical model for time immemorial with no end in sight, along with the corruption that is bred while it is in place.?The democratic model is just another version of it.?There is no question that it allows a small group to control information, create laws, and make decisions on behalf of a larger group independent of the larger group’s intent.??We are seeing breakdowns in society on every level, from government to private businesses because of this simple fact.?If I started this article without offering a solution, then I wouldn’t have written it.?Since nobody else is raising the flag, I will.

I am not going to go into the specifics here, but it involves creating a voting system that randomly selects voters from an entire group.?Randomly selecting voters prevents special interests from controlling the outcome and gives everyone in a group the potential to vote on something, which promotes participation.?The voting bloc passes ideas or decisions by unanimous vote, which allows any one person to veto an idea if it has opportunity to be perfected.?This allows a whole group to learn from each other and perfect ideas until they reach enough acceptance by the group to pass.?You will never get everyone to agree on any one thing, but this allows you to set a percentage acceptance rate for a whole group before ideas pass.?It also allows you to set limits by creating a few static voters so that economic or regulatory concerns for ideas can be considered and won’t make it through the voting bloc if undesirable.?If there isn’t one person to point the finger at for making decisions, then the only direction the finger can point to is at the self.?This will cause personal growth once everyone in a group realizes that the only limiting factor for the group’s evolution is their own participation in it.?Think about how many conversations are started by bad mouthing an elected official or a manager’s decisions.

The process I am describing wouldn’t have come as far as it has if I hadn’t been listening to the people around me.?We are all in this together, and I don’t want to hide out in a cave and watch things crumble because we aren’t willing to work together and create solutions that work both corporately and publicly.?Imagine harnessing the potential of a thousand people.?It would outperform a hundred thousand that were being controlled by a small group.?I truly believe this.?Things are never as bad as they seem.?If we look at the earth as a larger body, it is getting sick.?When the fever breaks, I believe we will break out into the stars, but we all must make a conscious effort to invest and learn from one another.?I know I will have to continue to grow, will you grow with me?
