We were hard at work facilitating workshops, attending events, and wrapping up some incredible projects whilst embracing project launches! We decided it was best to hold out to wrap up with one jammed-packed December newsletter as a present-filled Yarn & Share for you!

This December, we're reflecting on a deadly year filled with tremendous milestones both personally and professionally, as well as amazing projects that embody our commitment blending creativity with culture.

2024 Highlights


Before we get into our 2023 wins, let's pause and soak in the awesomeness of this year. We've mixed serious work with lots of fun times whilst growing together.?Here's a quick peek at our top achievements that have us buzzing with pride at Yirra Miya:

  1. Working with over 45 new clients from a range of backgrounds including First Nations small businesses, NSW State Government Clusters, NGO/organisations and Universities across NSW and Victoria.
  2. Rebranding to Yirra Miya and embracing it's meaning -?'growing together' - by?welcoming three new employees and one?new contractor to our team - Shaunie, Britt, Sarah and Teagan!
  3. Leticia, our Owner & Creative Director, was awarded as a Finalist for 7 News Young Achievers Award - for the OSMEN Creative Award and Off Trail Coffee Small Business Award categories.
  4. Facilitating three Canva Workshops for First Nations Small Businesses to develop and grow.? A special mandaang guwu ‘thank you’ to Yarpa Hub for the opportunity to facilitate workshops in Sydney and Dubbo.
  5. Getting to run six Brand Discovery Workshops with new and established businesses to develop six new brand identities, predominately for First Nations led businesses

Each win, big or small, has been a step forward in our mission of 'growing together'. Thanks for being a part of this incredible ride – here's to even more success and creativity in the future!

Children's Court Cultural Artwork

Youth Action Report Design

Click here to check out the report design Leticia and Britt worked together on for Youth Action Annual Report 22/23, showcasing a fabulous cover artwork and pulled elements featured throughout the layout, created by young artist-in-residence winner, Jennie Zhu. To compliment Jennie’s cityscape design, Leticia created a deadly expressive regional artwork ‘Yanhanha Dayangun (Moving Forward)’ on page 17, alongside the Acknowledgement of Country cultural element on page 2. The report was launched in line with their AGM meeting on the 28th November, 2023.


Visual Dreaming Website

Barbi did it again with another deadly website featuring branding by our team,?which officially launched on the 8th November 2023 - check it out: https://visualdreaming.com.au

NSW Menopause Awareness Campaign

Leticia designed a culturally reflective illustration piece to help connect messaging around learning and understanding what Menopause is for First Nations women and community. It was launched on World?Menopause Day on 18th October, 2023.

Reclaiming our Tradition Launch

Aboriginal breastfeeding resources in Dharawal and Dharug language for South Western Sydney LHD, officially launched on Monday 4th December, 2023. The brochures feature cultural illustrations developed by Lauren with featured graphics and layout by Lisa. Check out their YouTube video resource?here!

Exclusive Offer: FREE Canva Basic Workshop!

We had received amazing feedback on the Canva beginners workshops we have facilitated over the past 2 years - so we have decided to run a FREE 1.5 hour online workshop exclusive to small businesses (registered businesses with an ABN and under 15 employees - this includes sole traders) who are subscribed to our mailing list by 31st January 2024.

The workshop will give you a visual walkthrough of the Canva dashboard, how to set up your brand hub (Canva Pro required), and the use of some of the basic functions to get you started on creating your own designs, with a focus on social media tiles to help enhance your online presence.
