A New Twist on an Old Classic?
‘Twas The Night Before the Holiday!
'Twas the night before the holiday, and all through the office, not a worker was stirring, not even a novice. The keyboards were silent, the emails were sent, in hopes that St. Motivation soon would be present.
The employees were nestled all snug in their chairs, With visions of promotions and teamwork repairs. And the boss in their office, and I in my cube, had just settled in for a long winter snooze.
When out in the break room there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter. Away to the kitchen, I flew like a flash, tore open the fridge, and grabbed a cold stash.
I saw a motivational speaker, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment, it must be St. Nick. More rapid than eagles, his team-building games came, and he whistled and shouted and called them by name.
"Now, Engager! now, Positivity! now, Teamwork and Fun! On, Collaboration! on, Creativity! on, when the work's done! To the top of the office, to the break room wall! Now motivate away, motivate away, motivate away all!"
And then in a twinkling, I heard in the hall, The upbeat and lively sounds of a holiday call. As I drew in my head and was turning around, Into the break room, St. Motivation came with a bound.
He was dressed all in positivity, from his head to his foot, and his clothes were all branded with the company's good look. A bundle of joy he had flung on his back, and he looked like a speaker, just opening his pack.
He was cheerful and bright, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and filled all the staff's hearts, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose, and giving a nod, up the office he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, and away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,?
"Happy Holiday To All, and To All A Good Night!"
