Climate News
COP27 & COP15
There are two significant United Nations COPs (Conference of the Parties) running in 2022. COP27 took place in November and COP15 has just begun this month.?
What is the difference??Both are a ‘Conference of the Parties', however, each one has a unique focus.?COP15?is concerned with biodiversity while?COP27?is focused on solving the issue of climate change. Whilst these conferences are held separately their focuses are intrinsically linked.
We were lucky to have two UN climate scientists, Dr. Bill Hare and Dr. Peter Newman, in WA last week, sharing their insights from COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, at an event hosted by WA Climate Leaders. Here are the key takeaways you may want to consider in your climate action plan.?
COP15 started this month (December 7th) and runs until the 19th of December in Montreal, Canada. It will be the 15th conference of the parties to the UN convention on biological diversity – hence COP15.
Biodiversity protection is crucial to the climate crisis, we need to take action now and this is where COP15 comes in. Learn everything you need to know about COP15, as well as ways you can take action in our recent blog post.
