Brooke nominated for Charity Film Awards 2025

Brooke’s new film, marking its 90th anniversary, has been nominated for the Charity Film Awards 2025, and needs votes from the public to reach the shortlist.?

“Brooke at 90”, voiced by Midsomer Murders and Ted Lasso actress Annette Badland, follows 90 years of the charity’s dedication to improving the lives of working animals, using archival and present-day footage.?

United Nations recognises role of working animals in community disaster resilience

Anna Marry, Brooke’s Senior Global External Affairs Adviser, has written a blog introducing a United Nations resolution which champions the vital role of working animals to communities, especially during disasters.

Working animals play a vital role in climate disasters, including floods, droughts, earthquakes, hurricanes and volcanic eruptions, and must be recognised and protected.

Pets ease Christmas stress for half of UK owners, Brooke reveals

Almost half of UK pet owners say they are comforted by their pets during stressful holidays like Christmas, new research from Brooke shows.?

Forty-seven per cent of owners feel their pet comforts them during stressful moments over the festive period, other holidays or family gatherings, with more than three quarters (80%) believing their pet understands them.??

Brooke also found over a third (35%) of owners agree their pet understands them better than their friends and family, with almost half (48%) sharing how they’re feeling with their animal every day.??

Understanding essential veterinary medicines

Brooke has launched a new webpage to help you learn about essential veterinary medicines, which help improve access to safe and effective medicines and vaccines for vets globally.

These lists can provide animal health practioners with the resources they need to put their skills into action - skills that Brooke can help them to develop through the Animal Health Mentoring Framework.

This in turn can support the health of working animals, and ensure governments can give animal health practioners what they need whilst raising the visibility of these animals’ needs.?
