A New Chapter: Our Office Move

This year, Apollo and Global Energy Group (GEG) turned a significant page in our story. We moved into a central office at 10 Queen's Terrace, Aberdeen—and marked the occasion with an unforgettable opening night.

After 14 years in the city, our new home sets the stage for continued innovation and success.

Projects That Made a Difference

2024 demonstrated Apollo’s commitment to solving complex challenges and driving progress across the energy landscape.

• Partnering with DOF for ORE Catapult, we developed strategies to overcome installation barriers for gigawatt-scale floating offshore wind farms.
• For INEOS, we provided Project Management Consultancy for the Hejre Project, a transformative greenfield development.
• Collaborating with Wales & West Utilities, we advanced a pioneering low-carbon hydrogen initiative in North Wales.
• In partnership with Global Energy Group and ORE Catapult, our Tow to Port (T2P) study provided essential insights into maintaining Floating Offshore Wind Turbines and addressing future operational bottlenecks.
• Supporting NEO Energy, we delivered a FEED study for a key UKCS oil project redevelopment.
• Finally, our work on the 7CO2 Carbon Capture and Shipping Hub laid the groundwork for regional decarbonisation and sustainable investment.

In our most popular podcast episode of the year, Apollo’s Phil Westmorland and Jonathan White, joined by Chris McMahon from Bristol University, tackled key challenges in sustainability and the circular economy.

They explored whether engineering can solve the net zero challenge and discussed concepts like the Jevons Paradox and the Multi-Polar Trap.

Most Popular Case Study of 2024

Our standout case study of the year explored Apollo’s collaboration with DOF for ORE Catapult. Together, we tackled the challenges of installing a Gigawatt-scale floating offshore wind farm—developing innovative solutions to manage cost, streamline schedules, and overcome bottlenecks.

Scaling from current demonstrator projects to a farm of 60 floating turbines demanded fresh thinking and advanced methodologies.

This year, two LinkedIn posts stood out and captured our audience's attention, highlighting Apollo’s achievements and growth.

Celebrating Aberdeen’s Largest Process Team With over 30 process, technical safety, and flow assurance engineers, we celebrated the strength and scale of our Aberdeen team. From working on flare gas recovery and hydrogen projects to leading feasibility and FEED studies, this post showcased the impactful work our team is delivering. It also gave a nod to our growing presence in Edinburgh, where our engineers continue to expand Apollo’s expertise.

Growth in Edinburgh Our second top post reflected the success of our Edinburgh office. Launched to serve Scotland’s renewable energy sector, the office has grown to a dedicated team of seven. With two expansions already and further growth planned, this post celebrated the realisation of our vision to be at the heart of Scotland’s energy transition.
