Get ready to thrive in 2025

As we close out the year we take a moment to reflect on the big changes this year, and what’s to come from the REC in the new year.??

A year of political change?

With the Labour Government now well-established in office we’ve started to see their manifesto come to life through announcements and consultations – and, as we expected, it’s a challenging agenda for our industry.?

The REC has been working tirelessly, campaigning on the issues that matter most to our members, from the Employment Rights Bill, and protecting the role of agency staffing in the NHS, to sharing the voices of temporary workers and why #TempWorkWorks.??

We’ve been the only industry body in the room with Ministers and other business bodies on the most pressing issues around employment, sharing our market-leading research and representing our members to help shape core policies.?

And there’s plenty more to come in 2025! Starting with our Parliamentary reception in the new year.?

For all the latest updates follow us on LinkedIn and bookmark our Government Hub.???

Shaping the future of recruitment??

The pace of change in our industry today is like nothing we’ve seen before; from the rise of AI and technology, to geopolitical changes and shifts in workplace demographics.?

We’ve been with members every step of the way this year, including:?

Aim Hire – our guide and toolkit have provided strategies to demonstrate to clients the value of strong recruitment partnerships, and the valuable contribution of our sector.??

Business development masterclasses – with special guests BRAD SHACKLETON ?????? , Wendy McDougall ?????? and Richard West , we hit the road to help recruiters hone their skills and win new business in the new emerging market.?

Recruitment Industry Status Report (RISR) 2023-24 – just out! Our latest market intelligence helps members identify new opportunities and prepare for changes to drive business growth.??

In 2025 we’re going one step further with the launch of our member-only AI and Tech hub, featuring essential guidance, best practice and compliance when navigating AI and emerging technologies in recruitment, talent and staffing.?

Plus we are launching the REC Academy - our new, bite-sized, on-demand learning platform. Helping our corporate members upskill and prepare their teams for the future, with over 80 skills-based recruitment courses and over 200 micro learning videos (with more rolling out throughout the year!).?

Upholding high industry standards?

With so much regulatory change, we've been working hard to keep our members up-to-date on the latest changes and what it means for their business. Our team of legal experts have been on-hand to offer direct advice. In fact, our team have answered almost 7,000 queries over the last year, saving our members in excess of £575,000!???

We’re already looking ahead and working on further support for our top queries. Some of the most recent legal updates focus on the issues likely to have the biggest impact in 2025, including:??

  • The Employment Rights Bill?

  • Potential limits to the supply of agency workers to the NHS?

  • The introduction of restrictions on the supply of agency social workers in child and family social work?

  • The implementation of the changes to holiday pay which came into force in 2024?

  • More support for REC members in tackling challenging payment behaviours from clients in relation to charges and temp to perm fees.??

Some big changes announced this year, thanks as always for the lobbying work you continue to do for agencies across the UK. We are looking forward to utilising the REC academy ??
