Harvard Business Review: Research: Why So Many Packages Don’t Get Delivered - On-time delivery has always been a challenge with traditional carriers - especially when there is little-to-no technology to communicate with customers on their preferences of delivery times or specific drop-off locations. Some of the challenges of a frictionless delivery process are out of a retailer or carrier's control - but improvements in the last mile can be small and incremental to ensure drivers are happy and packages are getting delivered on time.?

Creating efficiencies is also particularly pressing when gig workers are involved - making their jobs seamless is important in order for them to get the job done accurately and efficiently. Predictive analytics can be helpful to foresee the best routes and understand which packages are likely to fail on the first attempt.?


WSJ: The Biggest Delivery Business in the U.S. Is No Longer UPS or FedEx - Amazon has delivered more packages to U.S. homes in 2022 than UPS or FedEx - and is projected to deliver around 5.9 billion by the end of this year. Just a decade ago, Amazon was a major customer of UPS and FedEx, and executives from organizations mocked the idea that Amazon could replace them. How will legacy carriers like UPS and FedEx need to evolve to keep up with Amazon's technological advances??
