Read on to see what RCEN has been up to, learn of upcoming events, and find useful resources from our network and beyond. Biodiversity Caucus
The UN Convention on Biological Diversity’s COP15 is almost upon us! Our Biodiversity Caucus is looking forward to sending a few delegates to observe the proceedings in Montreal, which will no doubt be an important step for the conservation of global biodiversity. Over the coming weeks, we will also be sharing information about biodiversity in Canada, the COP15 proceedings, and case studies of biodiversity projects from our members, so stay tuned on our social media!?
Moving into 2023, we will be confirming all our Biodiversity Caucus and steering committee members, but anyone still interested in joining is invited to email?[email protected].
Toxics Caucus
Our new Toxics Caucus has begun work on consulting with Health Canada about the Chemicals Management Plan. We had our first all-caucus meeting on November 10th, and the steering committee has begun finalizing the work plan for our first fiscal year. SDG Caucus
We have some plans in the works for 2023! The SDG Caucus wants to bring in a variety of voices and expertise to discuss the work being done on sustainable development in Canada and to guide the future work of the caucus. We look forward to sharing the work from these upcoming guest speaker sessions with the rest of RCEN’s network and beyond.?

This month we would like to spotlight the?East Coast Environmental Law (ECELAW) Association.
ECELAW
ECELAW is a non-profit organization that envisions a future in which laws and legal systems protect ecological health and promote environmental and climate justice in Atlantic Canada.
East Coast Environmental Law plays a crucial role in the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws in Atlantic Canada. Their work is anchored by the pillars of their mission statement, which is to advocate for progressive environmental laws and policies in Atlantic Canada, provide public legal education about environmental laws and legal processes, and share their legal skills to support individuals, communities, and organizations that are working to prevent or redress environmental harms.

Ecology Action Centre: Electric Vehicle Test Drive, Nova Scotia (Dec. 3)
EAC will be hosting an event at their Fern Lane office in partnership with the Clean Foundation's Next Ride program. The event will be an opportunity for EAC staff, volunteers, and members of the public to test drive electric vehicles and bikes, and to learn more about the benefits of electrifying transportation in Nova Scotia.

UN Convention on Biological Diversity Conference of the Parties (COP15), Quebec (Dec. 7-19)
The UN Biodiversity Conference will convene governments from around the world to agree to a new set of goals for nature over the next decade through the Convention on Biological Diversity post-2020 framework process. The framework sets out an ambitious plan to implement broad-based action to bring about a transformation in society’s relationship with biodiversity and to ensure that, by 2050, the shared vision of living in harmony with nature is fulfilled.
