In December 2005 my Dad...

In December 2005 my Dad, Landlord of a bustling local carvery-pub in Peterborough, had a nervous breakdown in front of 80 customer; many his only friends.

He was beaten and sectioned by 2 police officers and diagnosed with manic depression [bi-polar disorder]. He was put in high security at ward 5 and we weren’t allowed to see him for weeks.

At this time I was nearly £50,000 in consumer debt, I’d failed studying Architecture and being a self employed artist, and I felt helpless, scared and deeply ashamed.

My Dad was, is and always will be my hero. He used to take me everywhere with him on his Entrepreneurial ventures; buying Jags [cash], pubs and hotels [cash] and going to auctions for stock and to buy more property. He taught me to work for money from a very young age where he’d get me ‘bottling up’ early in the morning at his pubs and emptying the fruit machines and pool tables and counting the money. We’d race to see who could count the big 10ps the quickest. He taught me to play pool and hustle the customers. He’d come and watch every sports match I played in at school and be that Dad shouting and screaming and running on the pitch. All the other kids loved him, and I was so proud that he was my Dad.

The worst part about Dad’s breakdown was that it was on Dec 15th, his birthday. For 30 years he worked every birthday and Christmas day and news years eve and new years day and every weekend, only to be left mentally beaten and with no retirement, savings or pension.

And I was a big part to play in this. People have told me ‘it wasn’t your fault' but I feel my lack of focus and purpose, and the fact that I was a financial drain on my parents for 25 years without giving them something to be proud of, was a contributing factor to my Dad’s health and non well being.

That all changed in the freezing front garden of Dad’s pub, where the shame forced me to make a change. I had no choice. I couldn’t have anything like that happen again to the man I loved the most and be so out of control and unable to help.

Thanks to property, being an Entrepreneur, the passive income it brings and the systems I learned from great mentors, my parents now live rent and mortgage free in a house they helped me purchase way back in ’03. Property profit that comes from our portfolio pays for their house, a new Mercedes, trips to Cayman with us, travel, and anything they will ever need for many lifetimes. It has paid for both my kids private education from now until 18 years old, and houses nearly 700 local tenants. I can’t even take the credit because most of the results of our portfolio have been thanks to my genius business partner Mark Homer.

I just want to tell you on this important day that you are in the best business and asset class I have ever seen. It helped me become a multimillionaire despite being the most unlikely person.

I believe in you. I believe stronger than you don’t, that you can do this. You are in the right place; in an amazing and unprecedented time where it's quicker and easier than ever to be Entrepreneur making money and making a difference. Or at least humbly and hungrily hustling and learning to do that. Property & business can and will give you your ideal life, and I have everything to be grateful for thanks to property, and to you for being a part of my community and sharing our belief and vision of investing for freedom, choice and profit, and to help people across the globe become financially free.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t learn something from you. Thank you. I’m very grateful to you and want to serve you to make 2016 and the rest of your life everything that you want, and more. Tell me how I can help you have a great year.
