The airlines started delivering their holiday presents early this week with several new route announcements.

Air Canada?cancelled RSW to YUL and SFO to YYC from January 16 through October 28. They also cancelled PHL to YUL from February through April; MSY to YUL in April; and IAH to YYC from May 1 through October 28. Air Canada also filed newly?announced?new routes: YUL to JFK; YYZ to JFK (last served 2016); and YYZ to SMF.

Allegiant?downgauged flights to/from BNA in January.

American?cancelled DFW to EUG from March 1 through May 4. They also cancelled BOS to PNS from May through October. American?announced?and filed this week several new routes with most as part of the Northeast Alliance (NEA): LGA to BHM, BUF, CAE (suspended since April 2020), GRR (last flew 2007), GSP, and TYS (suspended since April 2020). They also extended AVL to LGA to year-round service and increased frequency between SDF and BOS.

Contour?cancelled 11 EAS markets from April 16th onward. They are also not selling on their or American's website. As of today, these markets have not been filed by a replacement airline, so this may be a filing error. We will follow up if we receive clarification.

Frontier?cancelled BUF to LAS from February 1 through April 21; cancelled DSM to LAS from February 13 through April 30; and cancelled LAS to MCI from February 16 onward.

Southwest?reduced capacity in RSW markets in March and April as Southwest Florida continues to recover from Hurricane Ian. Southwest also filed new and resuming service to SRQ. The new routes operating in March and April are BUF, MSP and PVD, while the resuming routes are DEN and MKE.

United?adjusted domestic capacity from April onward this week. They cancelled six routes, reduced/added flights and up-gauged/down-gauged flights from late March through October. Check out our file link above for all the details. United also filed the exit of Pueblo (PUB) from January 15 onward. This is an EAS market and Southern Airways Express is taking the contract. This is the 65th market exit for domestic legacy airlines.
