The heat in atmospheric gasses is proportional with TxM

M=Mass Density
T=Temperature

There is at least 7000ppm/427ppm=16x more H20 mass density than CO2 mass density near earth surfac.

1ppm=1milligram per kilogram.

So over 800 kilometers of atmospheric altitude, most oof the atmospheric heat remains near earth surface in the mass density going down a factor of 1000x over 50 kilometers of altitude near earth surface :

On a linear scale it is easier to see how steep the atmospheric mass density (kG/m3) goes down over altitude :
