In a recent FORESIGHT Media Group op-ed podcast, Chris Poynter , Division President, System Drives, speaks about the new Fraunhofer IPA and ABB report on Decarbonization in hard to abate industries.??
Chris Poynter highlights: “The report is really for leaders of businesses who are just trying to get a better sense of where they need to focus their efforts on decarbonisation. We're hoping it reminds them that energy efficiency is a big topic, that these things are not just, you know, a social or an obligation to meet regulatory commitments. These are good business decisions. And I think that's one of the takeaways from the report.”?
“We're seeing many of the solutions that we're offering our customers are actually more efficient than some of what they have been doing in the past with fossil fuel-based applications in industry.” He added.??
As we need to encourage change across leadership and operational teams to drive action?on decarbonization he concludes: “Maybe replacing some ageing motors with more efficient products isn't a massive investment, but it's still investing, it's still disruptive and it still takes your capital away from doing something else. We need to continue to demonstrate total cost of ownership is going to be better long-term than it is today if they make these changes.”?
