What is Behind-the-meter (BTM)
Behind-the-meter (BTM) refers to energy-related activities that occur on the consumer’s side, typically within or near their premises.
Our Whole System Thinking approach invests in, builds and controls those localised, flexible energy assets to accelerate a path to net zero.
We sat down with?Pieter D'haen, Behind-the-Meter (BTM) Senior Director, to explore how BTM supports the decarbonisation journey. Pieter discusses projects, learnings and why he is a strong advocate for supporting the biodiversity within our projects.

In other decarbonisation news
Energy partnership will slash carbon emissions by 20% across public buildings in Medway.
SSE Energy Solutions has delivered a project that is targeting a 20% reduction in carbon emissions across 11 major public buildings in South East England as part of an ambitious energy partnership with Medway Council.
The forecasted savings will reduce emissions by 476.5 tons of CO2, the equivalent of taking more than 2 million miles of car journeys off the roads every year.
"Zero Emission Targets for new vehicles are an essential pathway for supporting the decarbonisation of Britain’s roads and motorways. As we roll out the EV charging infrastructure needed to decarbonise transport, the government needs to remain committed to the Zero Emissions Mandate."?
