THE DECADE IS STILL YOUNG

THE DECADE IS STILL YOUNG

THE HARD TRUTH

No one is going to push you out that door to exercise, lose that excess weight or get in shape; no one is going to force you to read that book, no one is going to help you get that business off the ground, no one is going to stop you from eating junk food and of course no other person is going to force you to quit smoking or drinking alcohol. You can mess up all day, all night, all year long….NOBODY CARES!!!... THIS IS - THE HARD TRUTH.

During an end-of-year review session last year, an employer asked his employees two simple questions. How many of you made New Year’s resolutions for 2019? Every one of those hands went confidently up, he then followed up real quick; how many of you kept them? now about 98% of those hands came slowly and shamefully down. Surprisingly, even the employer had his hands down because he hadn’t walked half-way through his 2019 resolutions while staring 2020 in the face.

I’m probably wondering what’s running through your mind at this moment. Would you please do me a favor, quite rhetoric in nature... Let me know whether you join forces with the 2% whose hands were stuck up in the air boldly or the 98% whose hands dropped down. If you happen to be part of the latter, which of course most of us are, sure by now you’re wearing a long face, pointing down the ground, buried in self-shame, quite disappointed and beating yourself up. Hey you're not alone.

  • The Ideal Message
Many of us use the first few days of the year to set outsized goals that are just too difficult to keep. Bear in mind that every single goal is attainable, however when these goals are hinged on unrealistic timelines, they become exceptionally large and defeats the entire concept of systematic goal-setting & attainment.
  • Weigh your stance - Are you still on the execution field?

It’s statistically proven that 80% of people fail to stick to their New Year's resolutions for longer than six weeks. In greater detail, latest by mid-February 2020, 80% of us would have given up on these resolutions. And this has the tendency of making matters worse which affects our energy throughout the year. Lack of progress regarding our health, relationships, business and goals in general can be very disheartening and as such our momentum fades out. Research indicates that only about 9.2% would have these goals materialize by the end of 2020. Very pathetic, but the good news is its all boils down to choices. You choose where you belong!!! [Join the 9.2% who make things happen].

5 VALUABLE TIPS TO KEEP YOUR MOMENTUM AFLOAT ALL THROUGH THE YEAR.
1.      Every day is your new year:

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said; Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the new year-. The above quote is a game changer. If you have this quote internalized, it’s going to cause lots of dramatic changes. Do not focus on the bigger picture of March, April, or 2019 as a whole; Focus on making every single day count. Treat each day like 1st January, that energy, that excitement, that positivity, that go-get-it attitude you began the year with. Do not watch your energy dwindle day by day. Get to know the things that sap your drive and move away from them. Know the things that get you invigorated, feed constantly on those.

2.      Be resolute in your mind:

Let no one deceive you…it’s a mind game. All around us, everything we see began as a common thought. By default, the mind dictates the movement of the body; the reverse can be very disastrous. Get your mind focused in the direction of your goals and your body will follow suit. A wise man once said, it’s much more appropriate to develop a resolution after deliberation, in moderation, and with full resolve. It’s tragic to own the resolutions of others, because the accomplishment of borrowed goals brings no lasting sense of fulfillment . Take your time to know what you need, go ahead and crash those goals one after the other.

3.     It’s a marathon not a sprint

Stop applying the sprint technique. Use the marathon approach. Be patient enough to build up…day after day after day… it’s insanely impossible to remodel your entire life overnight. It’s a process; it will definitely cost more than your budget, Count the cost. Change is not cheap, the most expensive commodity of all time… its far more time consuming than you can imagine. Take it or leave, that goal would have to stretch you, if you must make it happen. Findings reveal if participants were getting immediate rewards from their new habits, they would be more likely to stick to them. Quite unfortunately, it just doesn’t work like that. You would have to work out for several months before you see the tiniest progress if you want to get in shape. Want to read more articles, journals, biographies etc.…it takes time to build up the right information. Simply get this; it’s not an overnight affair.

4. Evolve or Die
[A full article on this soon]

Given that technology & knowledge is always advancing, you cannot afford to ran out of steam. We live in a day and time where you can go to bed relevant yet wake up irrelevant due to the proliferation of information. Continuous Learning is the ultimate key to staying relevant all through this decade. It's a dangerous thing to depend on outdated knowledge to solve new problems. Ignore continuous learning at your own peril. Staying relevant means spotting trends, staying updated, and getting ready for the anticipated future.

5.     Enjoy the process n keep track of your progress

I will leave you with this quote: The secret of change is focusing all of your energy, not on fighting the old but on building the new - Socrates.

Get way beyond New Year’s resolution and make some lasting change in your life.
