A Decade of Growth, Trust, and Purpose: My Journey with Dr. Reddy’s

This week, as I received a thoughtful memento to mark my ten-year milestone, I took a moment to reflect on what this journey has truly meant to me. More than a timeline of achievements, it has been an experience of learning, trust, and meaningful relationships.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, an Indian multinational in pharmaceuticals, has not only shaped my professional capabilities but also influenced my perspectives on leadership, collaboration, and organizational culture. Operating from both India and Europe, I have had the privilege to see the organization from multiple lenses, and what stands out consistently is its core belief: Good health can’t wait.

What Dr. Reddy’s Gave Me

  1. A Multicultural Exposure My journey started with working alongside colleagues from all corners of India. Over time, my exposure expanded globally, particularly to Europe, giving me a broader cultural and business perspective.
  2. A Culture of Generosity Unlike many family-driven businesses in the pharma industry known for conservative practices, the Reddy family has fostered a culture of fairness and empowerment. Their approach to leadership is refreshing and deeply values-driven.
  3. A Politics-Light Workplace Office politics is often considered inevitable, yet at Dr. Reddy’s, it is surprisingly minimal. The focus remains on merit, contribution, and collective success.
  4. A Judgment-Free Environment The organizational culture encourages giving people the benefit of the doubt. Decisions are made based on trust, and individuals are allowed the space to prove themselves.
  5. Lessons in Patience and Trust I have learned that people ultimately deliver when given time and trust. Many of my capabilities today took months to evolve, but I had the right ecosystem to nurture them.
  6. Ease of Working I have never been denied a leave request, always received fair salary increments, and even on rare occasions when I needed to work remotely, the organization was supportive. This ease of working has made the last decade truly rewarding.

What I Gave Back to Dr. Reddy’s

  1. Commitment to the Organization’s Purpose During the pandemic, our role in the pharma industry was crucial. I continued working on-site to ensure that critical functions remained operational, demonstrating our unwavering commitment.
  2. A Culture of Prioritization I have always championed the principle: Organization first, team second, you third. This mindset has fostered teams that work with a shared sense of purpose.
  3. Trusting the Organization’s Decisions Whenever I was assigned new responsibilities, I trusted that the organization understood its needs and my potential. Even in moments of doubt, the bigger picture eventually made sense.
  4. Enhancing Customer Experience I have diligently worked to improve customer interactions and satisfaction, ensuring our clients receive the highest quality service and support. This focus on customer experience has strengthened our relationships and trust with clients.
  5. Developing a Supportive and Challenging Culture I have contributed to creating a workplace culture that supports and challenges employees. By fostering an environment where team members feel valued and motivated, even when asked to take on additional responsibilities, we have achieved greater innovation and collaboration.
  6. Mentorship and Development I have actively mentored colleagues, helping them navigate their career paths and develop their skills. This has not only contributed to their growth but also strengthened our team dynamics.

The Bigger Picture

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories stands for affordability, innovation, and quality healthcare. Its mission is deeply embedded in its people and culture. Integrity, transparency, and sustainability are not just corporate buzzwords here—they are values practiced daily.

As I approach the next phase of my career, I am energized by the same passion that brought me here ten years ago. There is still much to contribute, much to build, and much to learn. I remain grateful to leaders who have played instrumental roles in shaping my journey.

To those contemplating long-term careers at Dr. Reddy’s—my advice is simple: If you value a culture that is driven by trust, fairness, and purpose, this is the place to be.
