Debunking an Urban Legend

That brings us back to the survey that I developed in order to debunk a certain Urban Legend, and that is that All Southwest Airline[1] Users or the majority of them use the Airline for financial reasons, as more affluent passengers prefer to use other legacy airlines. This Urban Legend started as Southwest was seen as low cost carrier (Bachman, 2014)
The low-cost lead to the reasonable deduction that since Southwest was lower priced that less affluent passengers with choose Southwest while more affluent passengers would gravitate toward the legacy carriers with more traditional services such as meals, coffee, etc. The last aspect is that the post 9/11 airline market has been dicey at best as Justin Bachman stated, “wrenching bankruptcy filings by nearly all of the big U.S. airlines since 2001. That allowed established carriers which were weighed down by decades of embedded costs to revamp their expenses across the board—employee head count, aircraft leases, the wine offered in first class” (Bachman, 2014)
The answer wasn't as clear as I would have liked it to be, as there was certainly evidence to say that this was true. There are many more factors to consider, such as the "main," carrier in one's home market, lineage preferences (whether you grew up flying a specific airline, and of course disposable income). Please the read the rest and let me know what you think!
