?With the British obsession with weather, because let's face it, we don't do weather of any kind over here, do we? Too hot. Too cold. Too windy. But! There has been some sunshine down here in sunny Torquay, Paignton, Brixham. Or the wet West as the locals call it...

Have you had that 'inkling' when you are talking to someone that all isn't as it seems? Wouldn't you like to have that edge in your life when communicating with others??

While the main reason that women over 50 don't go into business for themselves is due to confidence (!) it has been said it is a good reason for some to gain parity with men by calling the shots. I have been in business for myself since the day I left school - quite the distance - and have always called my own shots.?

?What were your reasons for starting or wanting to start your own business?

67% of entrepreneurs over 50 say now is a good time to start a business according to a report from King's College London.?

46% of this group say they started a business for a better work-life balance which is rated as the top reason post-pandemic.

Eleanor Mills

If you find yourself cast aside at 50, a fate shared by many, Eleanor Mills' journey might resonate with you. Having spent 25 years as a senior Editor at the Times newspaper in the UK, she faced a harsh dismissal. However, she not only survived the ordeal but also emerged as a beacon of resilience. She transformed herself into the driving force behind Noon.org.uk, a vibrant community of 'Queenagers'—midlife women eager to showcase their strength and vitality beyond menopause.

Diana Nyad

I've followed Diana Nyad for years. She tried and failed so many times to do the 103-mile swim from Cuba to Florida. She succeeded on her fifth attempt at age 64. The failures were fraught with all manner of terrors but she is a tour de force and not one for giving up.?

Take a look at the recent Netflix film 'NYAD'. It is a great watch and inspiring beyond measure.

Get Techy with it! The number of women I speak to who say they are 'scared' of ChatGPT. I think scared is probably an ill-thought-out word - but like the advent of mobiles, the internet and well, creme eggs on hot cross buns - it's here to stay so you may as well use it.?

?How? Your best assistant, chat to it, get inspo from it, reframe your ideas with it. Oh, and always say thank you after!

Identify your niche market. You might feel like this is counterintuitive when you are trying to build your business or starting out. But similar to the saying that 'you can't please everyone all of the time', you can't service everyone all of the time. And furthermore, how thin do you want to spread yourself?

?

Take my niche experience and the story of how I came to create "Fulfil Your Financial Potential"

  1. Serving women aged 50+ to live their best lives (what does that even mean?)
  2. Serving women aged 50+ in business (now we are getting warmer having been in business for 40 years!)
  3. Serving women aged 50+ in business AND looking to fulfil their financial potential (??)

Take a good look at your business and see how you can niche down a level. Hint ?? It will be something you love...

?Creme Eggs and Hot Cross Buns - You heard it here! It started off as a wild image in my head during a chat on LinkedIn with Alan Braithwaite of Yellow Tuxedo (find them on Insta for the full story) until we made it happen at the weekend. I have to say the best bit was squashing the egg with my hand in one crush.?

It's not for everyone - or for me in fact haha.?

Would I do it again - hell yeah!

Would I eat it again - hell no!!

?The power of meeting new contacts on social media...

Tennis Central. Such great excitement as the tennis comet ?? that is Carlos Alcaraz won another final. He is a sensation.

What I love is the never give up > do or die on court mentality that carries him through. It really isn't over until it's over. Don't forget that.

What are you leaving all out there this week? Choose one thing and do it so amazingly well. Drop me a DM I'd like to hear!

?

Till next week... how can I help?
