On Death

On Death

Oh blithe spirit, I have seen you often

Even more so nowadays, and only yesterday

Prancing around hovering above

Ever present, this moment even now.

You’ve always been around

Then, back in time, when a voice so familiar

Stilled and went silent. A friend, gone

Into the twilight of the night

Then another, and another, a smile gone

A laughter gone quiet, a hug missing

Even before I could say all I needed to

Another one bites the dust….

Another one gone, another precious life,

A colour vanishes spiralling above

Leaving my heart torn apart

Once more, and as a tears swells my eyes.

Thank you my dear friends, for our lives intertwined

The joy of your friendship. You will live in my heart and

In the hearts of many you have touched. I pause,

And savour this precious memory of your life!
