A Tuesday morning thought for ya
For those of you that have said “I will NEVER EVER use a cell phone (back in the day). you now cannot imagine life without one”
And then maybe you said, "I will NEVER EVER put my credit card number online" You've probably have done that already once this week, right?
I get it!! We were all that person once upon a time. But now the world is evolving faster than it ever has.
And in retail:
- 68 Macy’s stores are closing
- ALL Limited Stores are CLOSED
- 108 Kmart stores are closing
- 140 Jc Penny stores are closing
- 42 Sears stores are closing
- 70 CVS stores are closing
- 120 BCBG Stores are closing
- 170 Wet Seal stores are closing
- ALL 460 Sports Authority stores have closed
- Even WAL-MART closed 269 stores in 2016!!
-Family Christian Stores, Bebe stores and even American Apparel stores are closing.
-In fact, Warren Buffet has declared the DEATH of retail and sold off all shares of Wal Mart
Oh, and there are more stores that are closing and even less attendance at these barn sales and vintage events that tried to be more about the experience.
Companies are outsourcing, downsizing, and more. So think about this….
??The largest transportation provider in the US doesn’t own a single car!! (UBER)
??The new largest hotel company in the world doesn’t own a single hotel!! (AirBnB)
??Amazon just surpassed Wal-mart as the nations largest retailer, and they don’t own a single store!
Times are changing and we are QUICKLY becoming an E-Commerce society. Or as I like to call it, Commerce. Period.
And I’m thankful that I’ve become a part of it. No more gatekeepers to get your products on the shelf of stores, you can go direct to consumers. No more setting up a booth in a barn or in a church rec room hoping that customers come. Everyone shows up to Facebook every day. EVERY DAY. BILLIONS of people.
We don't have to romanticize the radio or TV anymore, we can go direct to consumers and tap into the DATA.
People tell me "Becca, I'm not good at technology" It has nothing to do with technology and everything to do with learning where the data is and where people pay attention.
And because they are not willing to learn or hire the help they need, they stick to what they know - trying to get their product into stores, selling at Farmer's Markets and coops, or attending networking meetings with an hour of 30-second commercials.
Find a company or a product that is BLOWING UP and GET INVOLVED. Create a product or find a source for a product and jump online. Like now now =)
Because this is what my team and I have done on Facebook for businesses we help:
* A local gym added 103 new members
*A bakery increased their pie sales by 40%

Facebook Ads are AWESOME! If a business says no and they want to think about it, we just go across the street to the next dentist, spa, bakery, lawyer . . who has been watching the trends and gets it. There are plenty of business people who will argue with me and tell me that they like to shake hands in person and do business with people they meet. No worries mate, that works too, its just a slower method.

7 年Becca Niederkrom you are so right. You can't resist the change that is happening so you might as well get on -board. Also, funny how so many people 'hate' Facebook, but are still on it every day liking, posting and commenting.
